Description
Superb Gem 1897-O Barber Dime
Single Finest Certified at NGC
1897-O 10C MS67 NGC. The 1897-O Barber dime is a key date in
the series, from a small mintage of 666,000 pieces. This date may
be slightly overrated in Mint State grades, as experts estimate
85-105 coins still exist in Uncirculated condition. However, it
would be difficult to exaggerate the rarity of the 1897-O in MS67.
Only 4-5 coins are known at the Superb Gem level, and NGC has
certified only this single example (4/11).The present coin is a delightful Superb Gem, with sharply detailed devices and vibrant mint luster. The surfaces are virtually unmarked and mostly brilliant, with just a slight hint of lavender color. Dramatic clashmarks are evident on the reverse, with the outline of Liberty's nose and lips showing plainly between the wreath and denomination. Visual appeal is outstanding.(Registry values: N7079)
