Description
NGC 1898-O MS 65. A rare date in mint state, considered an R.6 issue in uncirculated, and one of the major strike rarities in the series. This piece is slightly better struck than most with LIBER showing on the headband (many show no letters). Highly lustrous and toned a deep gray in parts with rich golden-rose color elsewhere. This may be an unlisted variety as it appears the mintmark was originally punched considerably south and east of the final placement. As such, this should be of interest to specialists in the series. Population: 4 in 65, 1 finer.
