Description

1898-S Barber Dime, MS66
Lavishly Toned, Impressive

1898-S 10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. This issue represents yet another absolute and conditional scarcity from San Francisco, like so many other S-mint dates from the 19th century. The mintage of 1.7 million coins sounds rather hefty, but there are not a large number of survivors at any grade level. This is a lavishly toned Premium Gem with deep layers of emerald-green, crimson, yellow, and russet-gold coloration intermingled across each side. The motifs are fully struck and the surfaces are free of mentionable distractions. Population: 9 in 66, 1 finer (5/14).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23E8, PCGS# 4817, GSID# 4360)

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
Weight: 2.49 grams
ASW: 0.07205oz
