Description
1899 Barber Dime, MS68
Impressive Toning, Sole Finest Graded
1899 10C MS68 NGC. As the sole 1899 Barber dime certified by
either service as MS68, this remarkable Superb Gem is the
finest-known example from more than 19.5 million dimes struck by
the Philadelphia Mint during the year. Both sides display amazing
toning and mint luster that permeates the thickly frosted surfaces,
with each side equally impressive. Central gold toning yields to
vivid cobalt-blue and violet shades near the borders. The strike is
pinpoint-sharp for the issue, with eye appeal that exceeds even the
coin's considerable technical merit. For Registry Set purposes or
for the most advanced collection, this exquisite dime is
unsurpassed. Census: 1 in 68, 0 finer (8/15).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23E9, PCGS# 4818, GSID# 4328)
