Description

1900-O Barber Dime, MS66
Conditionally Rare New Orleans Issue

1900-O 10C MS66 NGC. Variegated shades of green, blue, purple, and orange color the design recesses. The devices show above-average detail apart from typical softness on Liberty's hair and cap, and the left wreath leaf. A few small marks are scattered over each side, but they are undistracting.

Population Data (3/15): NGC shows six MS66 (one MS66+) with a single MS67 finer, while PCGS reports seven MS66 (one MS66+) and none finer.

Heritage Commentary: Only 2 million coins were struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1900, making the issue a somewhat better date in the series. Most examples exhibit weak strike characteristics and lackluster surfaces. This carefully preserved Premium Gem is a notable exception.

Provenance: Purchased from David Lawrence (2/2000).(Registry values: N4719)
