Superb Gem 1900-O Dime
Single Finest Certified by NGC or PCGS
1900-O 10C MS67 NGC. The present piece is the single
highest-graded 1900-O dime. The 1900-O is a significantly better
date, partly due to a lower mintage but also because of a shortage
of contemporary Southern dealers setting aside high grade examples.
In Fine 12, the Guide Book value is $110, compared with $7
in the same grade for its Philadelphia Mint counterpart. The 1900-O
is rare in Mint State, and nearly unobtainable above Gem. This
lustrous Superb Gem is beautifully toned in medium golden-brown and
aquamarine. The strike is bold aside from the uppermost portion of
the wreath, and the reverse appears immaculate. The obverse is also
uncommonly smooth, as careful rotation reveals only a few faint
grazes on the portrait. A fleeting opportunity for the Barber
specialist.(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23ED, PCGS# 4822, GSID# 4363)
