Outstanding 1902-O Barber Dime, MS66
1902-O 10C MS66 PCGS. Ex: Duckor. Sharply struck, with satiny silver luster and pale gold toning about the peripheries. Hints of lilac are noted on the reverse. An aesthetically pleasing example, despite a few minor ticks and hairlines on Liberty's neck and face. It appears that a tiny die chip partially fills the lower part of the digit 2, one Breen described in his Complete Encyclopedia, although he did not provide a separate catalog number. This example is tied with one other for the finest certified by PCGS. The 1902-O is a surprisingly tough date to find in any Mint State grade, let alone Gem or finer. The collector of high-grade Barber dimes would do well to consider this opportunity carefully, for it combines high technical grade with outstanding aesthetic appeal.
