Description

1903 Dime, Marvelous MS66
Three Finer at Both Services

1903 10C MS66 NGC. CAC. Swirling, frosty luster blends with gold and lavender patina over well-preserved surfaces with a few minuscule ticks. The wheat sheaves and right ear of corn show pinpoint definition, while a trace of softness occurs over Liberty's headband and the denomination. This is a marvelous Premium Gem, technically and visually.

Population Data (9/15): NGC lists nine in MS66 with a single MS67 finer. There are 12 and two finer submissions in comparable grades at PCGS.

Heritage Commentary: The 1903 is slightly more elusive in high grades than later Philadelphia Barber dime issues, but it remains a relatively accessible date. With only three examples graded finer at both services, this Premium Gem would be exceedingly difficult to upgrade.

Provenance: Purchased from Larry Whitlow (7/2007).(Registry values: N1793)
