Description

Satiny Toned Premium Gem 1908-S Barber Dime

1908-S 10C MS66 PCGS. A Premium Gem specimen of this scarce date. The obverse shows glowing luster which is enhanced by gold, blue and green iridescent colors, with similar, though slightly darker, colors on the reverse. Fully struck by the dies, with the top of the wreath crisp, and each oak, maple and grain sharp as well. The surfaces are exceptionally well preserved, and a strong glass is needed to locate any signs of contact. We note a tiny milling mark straddling the two uppermost leaves on the obverse for identification purposes. The obverse shows a light die crack at the top of Liberty's cap below the second T of STATES. As to rarity, this one is near the top of the condition census, with NGC and PCGS reporting a combined ten coins this high, with a scant three pieces seen finer.(#4849) (Registry values: N2998)
