Description

1909-S Barber Dime, MS66
Attractive Rainbow Toning

1909-S 10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. This Premium Gem is a delight to behold. The surfaces display resplendent rainbow hues on the right obverse and upper left reverse. Light golden-orange tones occur elsewhere. Sharply detailed and well-preserved, this is certainly one of the most appealing of a small group that have earned this rarified grade.

Population Data (3/15): PCGS has seen only eight examples in MS66 with one submission finer, while NGC reports three coins in MS66 and none finer.

Heritage Commentary: The 1909-S dime (1 million coins struck) is another difficult-to-find issue, particularly in higher grades. Surprisingly for the San Francisco Mint, examples are often found with poor strike characteristics, making this well-defined Premium Gem all the more desirable.
