    Description

    1895-O Dime, MS64
Toned, Semiprooflike Example of This Key Issue

1895-O 10C MS64 PCGS. CAC. Aside from the legendary 1894-S rarity, the most elusive Barber dime is the 1895-O. Just 440,000 pieces were struck, and it commands high prices from Good to Mint State, towering over the rest of its regularly struck competition. The present near-Gem offers delightful eye appeal. Blue-green, peach, and pale silver-gray shadings are dominant, with strong luster shining beneath. The obverse exhibits considerable frost on the portrait, while the well-defined reverse lacks the degree of frost but offers a level of reflectivity in the fields. Population: 9 in 64 (1 in 64+), 12 finer. CAC: 2 in 64, 8 finer (9/18).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5/2009), lot 464, where it brought $18,400.
