1892-O Half Dollar, Brilliant MS67
The Hugon-Gardner Example

1892-O 50C MS67 PCGS. The 1892-O Barber half dollar was saved to a certain extent because of its first-year status, and so despite a low mintage of 390,000 coins, examples can be procured through MS65. Finer representatives prove to be exceedingly elusive, particularly at this grade level. This New Orleans issue typically features incompleteness over the right shield / wing juncture, fletchings, and tailfeathers, but this Superb Gem displays strong detail on those areas. The right claw is a trifle soft. Each side is flashy and brilliant without a lick of toning, appealing to collectors who target coins with a mint-fresh look. Star 3 shows a touch of softness, but the obverse design elements are bold otherwise. As expected, Liberty's cheek and the fields are unmarked. A tiny tick is well-hidden by the headdress. Population: 1 in 67, 1 finer (3/16).
