Description

1895-O Half Dollar, Toned MS66
Attractive Condition Rarity

1895-O 50C MS66 PCGS. The 1895-O Barber half dollar is rarely seen this fine. We last handled a piece in MS66 in our 2016 FUN Signature, and a finer example last appeared in our auctions in our October 2015 New York Signature. Most Uncirculated examples of this New Orleans issue grade in the MS62 to MS64 range. Gem and finer pieces are decidedly rare. The present coin displays original satin luster beneath warm golden toning, with additional ocean-blue and lavender colors framing the margins. There is no mentionable lack of strike softness, which sets this piece apart from most of its New Orleans Mint peers. Eye appeal is exceptional. Population: 6 in 66, 2 finer (5/21).(Registry values: N4719)
