Captivating 1896 Half Dollar, MS67 ★
Tied With One Other For Finest Certified With Star
1896 50C MS67 ★ NGC. The 1896 has one of the lowest business
strike mintages (950,000 pieces) in the Barber half dollar series,
and is scarce in all levels of preservation. In the better Mint
State grades (MS65 and finer), NGC and PCGS have certified just 29
coins: 21 examples in MS65, five in MS66, and three in MS67,
including two Superb Gems with Star. The present MS67 ★ offering displays intense luster radiating from surfaces splashed with delicate cobalt-blue, beige-gold, magenta, sky-blue, and violet patination. A penetrating strike leaves virtually complete delineation on the design elements, heightening even more the outstanding eye appeal. Close inspection reveals a handful of trivial, grade-consistent marks, barely precluding an MS68 numerical grade. This captivating piece will delight the new owner!(Registry values: N7079)
