Description
1901-O Barber Half, Satiny MS65
All-Brilliant Surfaces
1901-O 50C MS65 NGC. The 1901-O is a challenging issue that
combines a strike rarity with rarity in mint condition. It is, in
fact, a scarce item above the VG level. Only 10 other coins have
been certified in Gem condition between the two major certification
services (four PCGS and six NGC) with a mere five finer (5/19).
This particular piece has a characteristic strike with weakness on
the leaves above Liberty's ear, as well as on the eagle. Brilliant
throughout, the surfaces display bright, attractive satin mint
luster. The only mentionable abrasions are a couple of unobtrusive
marks on the lower portion of Liberty's neck. A rare opportunity
for the specialist.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2005), lot 4227; Central States Signature (Heritage, 4-5/2009), lot 806; FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2019), lot 3526.(Registry values: N7079)
