1903-O Barber Half Dollar, MS66+
Single-Finest Certified at NGC

1903-O 50C MS66+ NGC. CAC. From a mintage of 2.1 million pieces, the 1903-O Barber half dollar is not difficult to locate in circulated grades, and lower Mint State examples can be found with a little patience, but the issue is quite elusive at the MS65 grade level, and finer coins are extremely rare. Almost all examples seen are lightly struck on the right side of the reverse to some degree.

The present coin is a delightful Plus-graded Premium Gem, with impeccably preserved surfaces and vibrant mint luster, under attractive shades of jade-gold, silver-gray, powder-blue, and lavender toning. The design elements are sharply detailed in most areas, with just a touch of the usual softness on the shield point and adjacent area of the eagle's wing. An interesting die crack runs from the 3 in the date through the point of the bust. Eye appeal is outstanding. Census: 5 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N7079)
