Description
Rainbow Toned 1903-O Barber Half, MS66
1903-O 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Compared to some other New Orleans issues, the 1903-O is relatively plentiful in Mint State grades, yet it is still conditionally rare, with only 11 submissions certified as MS65 or finer by PCGS. This piece is similar to the Pryor coin, and it is technically finer than the Eliasberg coin although with a little weaker strike. The central obverse and reverse have light silver surfaces with pastel sea-green and gold toning that gives way to a remarkable rainbow presentation, consisting of gold, orange, blue, green, steel, lilac, and iridescent toning. The obverse has slight weakness at a few of the leaves and along the hair over the ear, and the reverse has some weakness in the vicinity of the right shield border, as usual. Population: 3 in 66, 1 finer (10/08).
