Description

1903-O Half Dollar, Originally Toned MS66
Bright, Satiny Mint Luster

1903-O 50C MS66 PCGS Secure. Even though 2.1 million pieces were struck of the 1903-O half dollar, high-grade examples are remarkably unavailable. This is an exceptionally well-preserved piece, a coin with a story to tell. The tonal pattern on the obverse indicates another half dollar lay for years over most of the obverse of this piece, but was off-center. The result was a wide arc of deep toning from 4 to 10 o'clock. Most of the remainder of the obverse is largely brilliant with just the slightest bit of golden color present. The reverse has a brilliant center with toning around the margin. Better struck than most O-mint halves with brighter, satiny luster than usually encountered also. Population: 6 in 66 (2 in 66+), 1 finer (9/17).(Registry values: N7079)
