Description
Key 1904-S Barber Half, AU50
1904-S 50C AU50 PCGS. The 1904-S is generally regarded as the scarcest regular issue in the Barber half series. It does not have the lowest mintage, but the 1904-S is devilishly difficult to locate in any grade. Undoubtedly this is from a combination of a low mintage and extensive circulation of silver and gold coins on the West Coast. This is a pleasing AU example with only slight evidence of friction. The surfaces are toned rich golden-brown. For the collector who wisely chooses to assemble an AU set of Barber halves, this is the key.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24MP, PCGS# 6500, GSID# 6603)
