Description

1904-S Barber Half Dollar, MS64
Prime Condition Rarity in High Grade

1904-S 50C MS64 NGC. CAC. From a low-mintage of 553,038 pieces, the 1904-S Barber half dollar is an elusive issue in the series and Mint State examples are especially difficult to locate. Probably fewer than a dozen examples survive in MS65, or better, condition, and prices go up dramatically with every grading point, making this attractive Choice specimen an excellent balance of quality and value. The design elements are sharply detailed in most areas, with just a trace of the often-seen softness on the shield point. The well-preserved original surfaces are lightly toned in shades of champagne-gold and lavender, with vibrant mint luster underneath. Census: 3 in 64, 4 finer. CAC: 4 in 64, 5 finer (4/16).
