Description

1904-S Barber Half Dollar, MS64
Prime Condition Rarity at This Grade

1904-S 50C MS64 PCGS. CAC. From a low-mintage of 553,038 pieces, the 1904-S Barber half dollar is one of the most elusive issues in the series. Choice Mint State examples are especially difficult to locate. Probably fewer than a dozen examples survive in MS65, or better, condition, and prices go up dramatically with every grading point, making this attractive near-Gem specimen an excellent balance of quality and value.

The design elements are sharply detailed in most areas, with just a trace of the often-seen softness on the right shield corner and the eagle's talon. The well-preserved, original surfaces are lightly toned in shades of champagne-gold and lavender-gray, with vibrant mint luster underneath. Population: 13 in 64 (1 in 64+), 9 finer. CAC: 5 in 64, 5 finer (1/17).(Registry values: N4719)
