Description
1904-S Half Dollar, MS64
Green CAC, Old Green Holder
Conditionally Rare
1904-S 50C MS64 PCGS. CAC. The 1904-S Barber half dollar is
a rarity in Mint State, and only a handful of coins are known finer
than the present near-Gem. This is only the fourth time we have
handled an MS64 example of this challenging issue, with a recent
PCGS CAC coin realizing $21,150 (Heritage, 2/2017). This example
could very well surpass that coin in terms of visual merit, showing
softly frosted surfaces that emit beautiful olive-gold, lavender,
silvery-blue, and peach-orange hues. The reverse coloration is
especially pleasing. Strike weakness appears on the eagle's right
(facing) talons the right shield corner, as usual. CAC-approved and
housed in an old green label holder. Population: 13 in 64 (1 in
64+), 9 finer. CAC: 6 in 64, 5 finer (7/17).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24MP, PCGS# 6500, GSID# 6603)
