1906 Half Dollar, MS67
Tied With One Other for Finest

1906 50C MS67 PCGS. CAC. The 1906 is one of the few Barber half dollar issue wherein the mintage figure gives some indication of its availability in Mint condition; however, the present piece does not fit neatly into this characterization because of the exceptionally high grade. From a mintage of more than 2.6 million coins, just five Premium Gems are known to survive and this coin is one of only two Superb Gems certified (6/15). This piece exhibits frosty mint luster with just a tinge of champagne color. Moderate die flow lines are seen in the fields which give the coin its vibrant cartwheel effect. Fully detailed on the obverse, the reverse only lacks highpoint definition on the eagle's right claw and the upper left portion of the right (facing) wing.
