Description

1906-D Half Dollar, Satiny MS66
Only One Coin Finer at Both Services

1906-D 50C MS66 PCGS Secure. CAC. Ex: Shireman. The commencement of coining operations at the Denver Mint in 1906 netted a half dollar production of slightly more than 4 million pieces. The 1906-D is more available overall than its New Orleans counterpart, although the two issues claim similar survival rates in MS66 and higher. Pleasing ivory surfaces glisten with satin luster, giving this Premium Gem Barber half dollar a decidedly fresh look. The right talon and shield-wing juncture display a touch of strike softness, and tiny marks are clustered near Liberty's mouth and neck, preventing an even higher grade. Population: 9 in 66 (1 in 66+), 1 finer (11/15).
Ex: Harry Laibstain (9/1/2004).
