Description
Underrated 1908 Barber Half, MS65
1908 50C MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1908 is curiously scarce and underrated in Gem condition, even though 1.3 million pieces were struck. Both of the major services combined have only certified 24 Gems, and 14 are finer (2/10). This is a splendid, high-end example that has light golden toning over each side and speckled darker color in the area of Liberty's face. The design elements are well, but not quite fully struck on each side, but this slight weakness is offset by the exceptionally clean surfaces and thick mint luster. Population: 13 in 65, 9 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24N4, PCGS# 6512, GSID# 6569)
