Description

1909 Half Dollar, MS66
Top-Graded Type Coin

1909 50C MS66 PCGS Secure. Ex: Shireman. Dr. Peter Shireman remarks: "This exact coin holds a special place in our collection, being the first coin to be MS65 or better (our first Gem), reaching that status many years ago when the set had only about 40 coins out of the 74 (counting the 1892-O micro O variety), and most were MS63 and MS64." Essentially brilliant surfaces glisten with scintillating mint frost, and blushes of gold patina appear mostly around the reverse border. Strongly struck, impeccably preserved, and perfect for type representation. Population: 14 in 66 (3 in 66+), 0 finer (11/15).
Ex: Heritage (1/9/1996).
