Description
1914-S Half Dollar, Luminous MS66
Boldly Rendered, Among the Finest
1914-S 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. In Gem or better condition, the
1914-S Barber half is virtually as scarce as the 1913-S, even
though the later issue had a significantly higher mintage (992,000
versus 604,000 coins). Moreover, the 1914-S is underappreciated in
the upper levels of preservation, having long been in the shadow of
its Philadelphia counterpart, a recognized key date. This is a terrific piece with smooth, virtually unblemished surfaces (a few tiny marks can be found, but only with a magnifier). The striking details are remarkably strong on each side and the bright, satiny mint luster is virtually free from toning, save for a hint of champagne color glistening overall. An outstanding, high-grade 1914-S half, among the finest certified by either service. Population: 9 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer. CAC: 9 in 66, 0 finer (5/16).
