Description

1914-S Barber Half Dollar, MS66
Near-Brilliant Registry Set Coin

1914-S 50C MS66 PCGS. Although overshadowed by the low-mintage 1914-P, the 1914-S Barber half is rare in its own right when found in the outstanding condition of this exceptional half dollar. Destined for the finest collection or Registry Set, the coin displays stunning luster over near-brilliant, semiprooflike surfaces.

Almond-gold accents at the rims and a pale ivory-gold sheen are the only hint of color. The motifs are fully struck. A tiny field mark near star 9 and another on the eagle's tail appear to be the only contact of any kind. For sheer visual impact, this gleaming coin outshines all others of this date we can recall. Population: 8 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer (6/15).(Registry values: N4719)
