Low-Mintage, Key-Date Issue

1896-S 25C VF35 PCGS. The 1896-S Barber quarter, with a low mintage of 188,039 coins, is one of three key dates in the series along with the 1901-S and the 1913-S. This example reveals a coating of gray patina over the obverse with olive accents at the margins, while the reverse shows silver-gray color on the design's high points and mostly forest-green toning in the fields and at the borders. Several shallow marks are noted on the obverse, and a couple more are present on the reverse.(Registry values: N1793)
