    1897 Barber Quarter, MS67
    Tied With Two Others for Finest at PCGS

    1897 25C MS67 PCGS. Beautifully toned and lustrous, this Superb Gem possesses strong visual appeal. The obverse toning includes hues of teal, mint-green, copper, golden yellow, and rich pink. The richer shades of toning on the reverse are concentrated at the periphery, with lighter shades, primarily gold, appearing at the center. The left obverse field includes an interesting mark with the appearance of a 5 when viewed from 9 o'clock and the cheek reveals a few small marks when examined closely. The 1897 production of Barber quarters at the Philadelphia Mint consisted of 2,480,000 pieces, but few survivors have been certified at the upper grade levels. Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (3/14).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 23YA, PCGS# 5616)
