    Description

    Superbly Toned 1898 Quarter, MS68 ★ NGC

1898 25C MS68 ★ NGC. The 1898 has a substantial mintage of 11.1 million pieces; however, it is not as common as several other high mintage P-mint issues. In high grades (MS66 and better) it is predictably rare with only a half dozen or so pieces graded finer. This is the finest example certified by either of the two major services, its only close rival being a non-star MS68 also graded by NGC. The surfaces on this piece display the finest technical preservation coupled with original, exemplary toning characteristics. The nearly perfect surfaces on this coin are coupled with strong, one is tempted to say, full striking details, and each side has rich tonal qualities. The obverse displays bright lime-green with dark swaths of cobalt-blue and crimson, while the reverse is primarily mint-green with reddish toning around the margin.(#5619) (Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 23YD, PCGS# 5619)

    Weight: 6.25 grams
