Elusive in Mint State
1898-S 25C MS64 PCGS Secure. CAC. The 1898-S Barber quarter
is a scarce date in Uncirculated condition, regardless of grade.
This near-Gem example has few superiors. The strike is sharp
throughout, and each side displays dusky olive-gold toning over
frosty surfaces. A few minor abrasions are not distracting.
Population: 11 in 64 (1 in 64+), 12 finer. CAC: 3 in 64, 6 finer
(10/18).Ex: Twelve Oaks Collection (Heritage, 9/2016), lot 13907, which realized $2,585.(Registry values: N2998)
