Description
1901-S Quarter Dollar, VF35
Rarest Barber Quarter
1901-S 25C VF35 NGC. The 1901-S is the rarest of the "Big
Three" key-date Barber quarters, surviving largely in very worn
condition such as Good, AG, and even Fair grades. Coins that would
ordinarily only be purchased as a temporary filler coin for any
other date are for the 1901-S often the triumph of the fortunate
collector who acquires one. Examples of this issue grading in the
middle or upper circulated levels are decidedly rare. This Choice
VF coin represents an important opportunity for the collector
wishing to move beyond the entry-level grades and acquire a true
rarity. Major details remain visible, with light wear over the
design elements. Bright slate-gray surfaces have accents of amber
toning. Census: 2 in 35, 25 finer (5/21).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23YR, PCGS# 5630, GSID# 5432)
