Description
Prized VG8 1901-S Quarter
1901-S 25C VG8 PCGS. Neither minted in such high numbers as the 1896-S issue nor saved to the same extent as the 1913-S, the 1901-S quarter is key to the Barber series. This is a fundamentally pleasing Very Good representative of the issue, light gray in color with slight deepening around the peripheral devices. The center of the word LIBERTY is gone, though the L and Y are intact and parts of the I and T remain. Few sharp digs are present, though close inspection reveals a number of wispy abrasions, as well as a pinscratch running from the D in GOD into Liberty's cap.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23YR, PCGS# 5630, GSID# 5432)
