    Description

Magnificently Toned Gem Mint State 1903-O Barber Quarter

1903-O 25C MS66 PCGS. Although minted in fairly substantial numbers, very few 1903-O Quarters have survived in Mint State, fewer still in Gem and better grades. This piece exhibits full creamy luster underneath reddish-golden toning that deepens toward the rims. Flashes of iridescent blue color are also noted on the reverse which make this coin quite attractive indeed. Identifiable by a couple of tiny ticks near the top of Liberty's neck, just below her chin, and another on the reverse feathers just below the base point of the shield. Well struck, and very nearly perfect with just a hint of weakness on the uppermost arrow feathers in the claw, bold elsewhere. A superlative coin for the specialist. The combined NGC and PCGS Population reports tally three coins graded this high with a single coin seen finer of this date.(#5635)(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 23YW, PCGS# 5635)
