    1905-O Quarter, MS67
    Ex: Clapp-Eliasberg, Finest Certified
Direct Purchase From the New Orleans Mint

1905-O 25C MS67 NGC. Ex: Eliasberg. Described in the Eliasberg catalog as: "Heather and light golden toning over lustrous, satiny surfaces ... an outstanding gem specimen that is worthy of special note by the interested bidder." Each side displays incompleteness of strike on the high points -- a hallmark of the Louisiana facility. The overall preservation is unsurpassed.

Population Data (9/15): This is the sole finest example at NGC. PCGS also shows a single MS67 submission and none finer.

Heritage Commentary: This Superb Gem traces its origin directly back to the New Orleans Mint 110 years ago, a claim only a handful of coins can rightly make. In addition to its historical significance, Registry specialists will also recognize its importance as one of the two finest survivors of this scarcely saved issue. A fabulous representative of what David Lawrence called a "magic" date.

Provenance: Purchased directly from the New Orleans Mint by John M. Clapp (11/1905); John H. Clapp; Clapp Estate; Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. via Stack's (1942); Eliasberg Collection (Bowers and Merena, 4/1997), lot 1585; unknown intermediaries; purchased from David Lawrence Rare Coins (10/1999).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 23Z3, PCGS# 5640)
