    Description

Important 1905-S Barber Quarter, MS 65 PCGS

1905-S 25C MS 65 PCGS. After a one-year hiatus, the San Francisco Mint returned to quarter dollar production in 1905 with a mintage of 1.8 million pieces. The lack of an S-mint delivery in 1904 probably resulted in considerable economic demand for the '05-S issue, and, indeed, this date is equally as elusive as the 1904-O and 1905-O in Mint State. The consignor pursued the present example for ten years, but its extraordinary technical and aesthetic merits more than justify the chase. The centers are untoned within a ring of electric-blue and orange-russet peripheral iridescence that is more extensive on the obverse. Frosty, sharply struck, and nearly abrasion-free, this coin has legitimate claim to an MS 66 grade. Population: 6 in 65, only 4 finer (10/00).
    From the Glenn J. Church Collection. (NGC ID# 23Z4, PCGS# 5641)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
