    Description

    1909-S Quarter, MS67
    Among the Finest Certified

1909-S 25C MS67 PCGS. CAC. One of the finest known of this date, this Superb Gem 1909-S quarter displays frosty luster beneath shades of amber-gold and champagne toning, with tinges of deep aquamarine observed periodically around the outer peripheries. The strike is bold throughout, and there are only a few faint luster grazes on the neck mentioned for accuracy. Housed in an old green label holder.

Population Data (4/15): Two in MS67 at PCGS and three MS67 at NGC are the finest graded. One of two in this grade at CAC.

Heritage Commentary: The 1909-S is not quite as rare as its O-mint counterpart but is nonetheless elusive in all Mint State grades. Gems are scarce, and anything finer is notably rare.

Consignor Commentary: Superb. There is no better way to describe this coin. There are two short abrasions near the inside tip of star 6, but otherwise seemingly perfect. Its picture readily conveys the strong eye appeal from wonderful coloring and luster.

Provenance: Purchased from David Lawrence Rare Coins (11/1998).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 23ZK, PCGS# 5656)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
