    1912 Barber Quarter, Luminous MS67
    Condition Census Registry Coin

1912 25C MS67 PCGS Gold Shield. This relatively plentiful Philadelphia issue -- boasting a mintage in excess of 4.4 million coins -- becomes conditionally scarce in MS65 and is genuinely rare at the Premium Gem level of preservation. Only three Superb Gems are reported, one of which is the luminous coin offered here. All three top-grade coins are plated on the PCGS CoinFacts webpage, although only one -- the toned Eugene Gardner coin -- has ever appeared at public auction in an MS67 holder. That coin last realized $16,450, in the FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2016), lot 3931, exactly twice what it realized less than a year prior in the Gardner sale.

This Superb Gem is equally well preserved and sharp, showing no mentionable weakness or surface impairments. It is nearly brilliant -- indeed, of the three MS67 coins, this piece is the closest to being entirely free of toning. Luster is luminous and eye appeal excels. Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (1/19).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 23ZS, PCGS# 5662)

    Weight: 6.25 grams
