Gorgeously Toned Premium Gem 1913 Barber Quarter

1913 25C MS66 PCGS. This is a delightful and very colorful toned Premium Gem specimen of this coveted date. The obverse sports rich coppery-gold and vibrant forest green hues around the periphery, the reverse similar with flecks of deep reddish-gold and bright yellow toning through the peripheral lettering. Mintage for the year plunged to 484,000 pieces, creating one of the scarcer dates for specialists to acquire. While overshadowed by the key date 1913-S, the 1913 Barber quarter deserves quite a bit of respect as well with so few found in Gem grades. The combined NGC and PCGS population reports note four examples graded this high and importantly just a single coin graded higher of this date and mint. The surfaces show a few faint lines, and we note a tiny horizontal milling mark located on the star above the eagle's head on the reverse. The strike is quite sharp for this date, and any specialist will long enjoy the colorful array provided by the toning.(#5664) (Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 23ZU, PCGS# 5664)
