    Description

Satiny and Bright Gem 1913-S Barber Quarter

1913-S 25C MS66 PCGS. One of the key dates to this series and a very rare coin in any Gem or higher grade as seen here. The surfaces are bright and lustrous, with a blush of light gold toning just starting to form. Sharply impressed by the dies, with bold device detail and strong feathers on the eagle. The only minor weakness seen is on the lower right claw of the eagle and on the feathers of the arrows. With a mintage of 40,000 pieces, it is easy to see why this coin is quite scarce. Precious few were saved from circulation, and this date is notoriously difficult to find in mint condition. This regal Premium Gem should find many collectors who will covet its charms. Identifiable by a tiny tick on the top of Liberty's cap just above the fold. Interesting clash marks are noted down from Liberty's ear from clashing with the reverse die (the eagle's neck is outlined on Liberty's neck), and a minor die crack extends from the rim up through the base of the 3 in the date up to the truncation of Liberty's neck and beyond nearly reaching the last star. An outstanding opportunity for the specialist to obtain one of the most difficult coins in this series. Population: 9 in 66, 4 finer (9/05).(#5666) (Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 23ZW, PCGS# 5666)

    Weight: 6.25 grams
