Basel. City 2 Taler ND (c. 1640) MS67 NGC, KM-A95 (taler), Dav-1740, HMZ-2-77a, Divo-85. One of the most charming large-size emissions of Basel, perhaps bested only by the iconic city view 2 Talers of the same period, and one which, while known to occasionally appear on the market in Choice Mint State, quite simply never becomes available this nice. The toning palette can only be described as ideal, rich gold accents silhouetting the devices while a more smoky hue predominates over luster-heavy fields. Even the feathering details on the double-headed eagle's faces are fully struck-up. More than likely the finest representative a collector could hope for, being both the single highest certified, as well as ranking 3 points above the next best.
