Description

Brabant. Joan and Wenceslas gold 2 Mouton d'Or (1355-1383) MS63+ NGC, Vilvorde mint, Fr-7, Delm-44, de Witte-389. 6.23gm. A tremendous double Mouton d'Or that is seen with far less frequency than its single denomination brethren. The larger flan on this elusive type makes the display of the "Lamb of God" even more impressive. Just a few tiny patches of strike weakness display on each side, but overall the rendering of the design is rather sharp for this Medieval issue. The surfaces themselves are nearly untouched, exhibiting a smooth exterior with very little contact and a subtle veneer of yellow-gold mint bloom. This selection is the first of the 2 Mouton d'Or type we have ever had the pleasure to offer and it is the second finest example certified at NGC. A blockbuster offering we can't wait to see cross the auction block.
