(retrograde): DnS : FLΛnD' (double saltire stops), count seated facing on Gothic throne, a sword in his right hand and a shield with a lion supported by his left; all within a tressure with trefoils in the spandrels / +XPC: VIИCIT: XPC: RЄGИΛT: XPC: IИPЄRΛT (double annulet stops), cross fleurée in quadrilobe with leaves on cusps and rosettes in spandrels. Although not an entirely uncommon type, we continue to delight when having the opportunity to handle examples, particularly when the details are as crisply defined as found here. The entire legend is on flan too, making this a high-caliber example for collectors looking to add this rewarding, always desirable emission.
