    Description

(1863) William Pitt Medal, Betts-515, MS64 NGC. Bronze, 40 mm. 435 grains. Plain edge. A head and shoulders portrait of Pitt faces left on the obverse, bounded by legend GVLIELMVS PITT. The reverse has a seven-line legend, THE MAN / WHO HAVING / SAVED THE / PARENT PLEADED / WITH SUCCESS / FOR HER / CHILDREN, referring to the Great Commoner's efforts to repeal the Stamp Act. Deep mint-red toning adorns both sides. A few minor marks and rim nicks prevent an even finer grade assessment.
