1739 Admiral Vernon Medal, Porto Bello, Adams-PBv-15-L, R.7, Uncertified. Ex: Admiral Vernon Collection. Copper alloy, lightly a high zinc component. Silvered. 26.6 mm. A very rare variety. The example pictured in Adams-Chao is from the Massachusetts Historical Society. This piece displays strong detail with a touch of high-point wear. Mostly silver-gray, though areas of ebony patina appear as splotches in the obverse fields, and underlying brass-brown is visible in the border legends and over the high points of the ship.s
