1745 Betts-381, MS63 Brown
Beautiful Copper Lima Treasure Captured

1745 Medal Copper Lima Treasure Captured, Betts-381, MS63 Brown PCGS. Chocolate-brown surfaces contain slight steel overtones, which are contrasted with biscuit highlights in the protected areas. Abrasions are minimal, and light rust in the fields of both sides is of course as made. This medal commemorates the July 10, 1745 capture of three silver-laden Spanish ships by two English vessels. The reverse displays portraits of the captains of these two triumphant English ships, James Talbot and John Morecock, with a wagon train below transporting the captured silver to the Tower Mint.
