1720 John Law, VF-XF
Betts-129. 1720 John Law. Silver. VF-XF. 36.1 mm, 14.2 gm.
Unsigned. Depicted in a court costume on the obverse, John Law is
shouting, "By skill all things are gained." The reverse displays a
clockwise rotation and illustrates a woman in mourning, perhaps
representing France, seated by a table. The legend states, "By bad
luck all things are lost." The high points reveal wear on this
piece. Although scattered marks are present, there is none worthy
of individual mention.
Purchased from John J. Ford, Jr. (2/1987).
