    Betts-33, Dutch Silver Medal

    Betts-33. 1631 Dutch New World Victories. Silver. VF. 50.5 mm, 2.7 mm thick, 47.3 gm. Medal turn. Lace-collar armored bust of Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange r. Reverse shows Dutch lion overthrowing one of the Pillars of Hercules, a favorite Spanish imperial symbol, symbolizing extending Dutch boundaries beyond Europe and preparing to strike the second pillar as well. There are scattered of contact marks on the Prince's face and nearby field, but the reverse field is far more smooth.
