    Betts-610. 1783 Treaty of Paris. White Metal, with copper plug. XF. 43.2 mm, 25.4 gm. Unsigned. The obverse legend translates as, "Thus concord unites enemies as friends." The design includes representations of Peace shaking hands with America. Various items representing Ireland, Great Britain, France, Spain, and the Netherlands also appear. Peace is present on the reverse as well, with an olive branch in her right hand and a horn of plenty in her left. She is trampling on War, lying prostrate below. The legends translate as, "From the clash of arms, the joyful light of peace rises again" and "Let there be peace." Areas of luster remain in the protected portions of this circulated piece exhibiting wear, primarily on the high points.
